Rush has won a number of Juno Awards, and was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1994. Over their careers, the members of Rush have been acknowledged as some of the most proficient players on their respective instruments, with each band member winning several awards in magazine readers' polls. As a group, Rush possesses 24 gold records and 14 platinum (3 multi-platinum) records. According to the RIAA, Rush's sales statistics also place them fourth behind The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Aerosmith for the most consecutive gold or platinum albums by a rock band. Rush also ranks 79th in U.S. album sales with 25 million units. Although total worldwide album sales are not calculated by any single entity, as of 2004 several industry sources estimated Rush's total worldwide album sales at over 40 million units. The band's most recent tour, an intercontinental promotion for Snakes & Arrows ended on July 24, 2008 in Noblesville, Indiana. "Corey smith grew up in Jackson county, Georgia. He was strongly influenced by a variety of musicians including George Jones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Nirvana. Before attending UGA, Corey got involved in the musical business at a young age. He covered more popular bands music at local bars around his hometown. It wasn’t long before the stress of an uneducated artist would overwhelm him. “I didn’t like playing cover songs in bars, and the lifestyle of a struggling musician didn’t particularly appeal to me. So I decided that what was most important to me was getting an education, building a family, and trying to have a positive impact on the world,” says Smith.

Growing up in Jackson County allowed Corey Smith to visit the college town of Athens, Georgia regularly. He fell in love with the University of Georgia and would become a Georgia bulldog shortly after graduating high school. He majored in Social Studies education. While Corey was a student at UGA he continued to write songs and play for his friends at parties. Corey’s music became popular amongst his peers. “I enjoyed playing my songs in those settings and learned very quickly that the way to get people to listen was to grab them with lyrics that hit close to home. I had to get their attention with meaningful lines that made them want to hold off on the keg-stands and listen for a while.
